Fate?

Lanre joined the queue at the ATM machine. There are nine people in front of him; three girls and six boys. He couldn’t stop himself from staring at one of the girls. She is a beauty and he would have started a conversation with her if he wasn’t in a hurry.

Lanre had misplaced quite a large sum of money at the motor park and he had to come to the bank to get some money. He is now about to withdraw the remaining 3000 naira in his account.

He came home to get some books and he was already late for his journey back to school and he prayed that the ATM machine would not malfunction. It got to the girl’s turn and after using the machine she left with her friends. Lanre kept on staring at them till he couldn’t make out their shapes again.

When it got to his turn he withdrew the money in his account and quickly headed to the motor park. He was lucky to get a bus early and he arrived at school earlier than he expected.

About two weeks after that, Lanre was on his way to a lecture hall and he decided to make a detour to the cafetaria. He was about to purchase a meal at the counter when he heard a sing-song voice of someone making a call behind him.

Lanre looked back to see who it was and his heart beat increased significantly. It was the girl he saw at the ATM machine. All he could do was smile.

Why Are You So Reticent?

A girl once asked me “why are you so reticent?”.

I just stared and smiled at her without giving her an answer. The reason why I didn’t answer is not because I wanted to be rude. I just didn’t know what to say.

I’m the kind of person who loves playing my cards close to my heart. You have to be really good friends with me before I tell you something important about me.

Another reason why I don’t reveal my feelings or thoughts easily is because I don’t like to count my chicks before they hatch. I like to be 100% sure about something before I take action on anything.

A lot of my friends have accused me of being too secretive but they tend to tell me personal issues about them because they know I’ll never reveal it to anybody else.

Maybe I just have trust issues like Eminem. *winks*

ADEWUYI.

P.S
I am sorry that I’ve not written in a while. I’ve been kinda busy. Thanks

300 stories

Tomorrow I will be posting my 300th and final story. In all honesty, I never thought I’d have the stamina to reach that goal, but here we are.

And most of that is thanks to you guys: my readers. It is so much easier to write stories if you know there are more than 4,000 people out there – from Syria to Australia, from Kenya to Peru – following your endeavour. Your comments, often appreciative, sometimes critical, have enriched not only my writing but myself as well.

So, from the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU! Thank you for being there on this journey I shall never forget.

For those of you who have asked me whether I’ll continue writing these stories – and there have been many – be sure to check out story number 300 tomorrow. It will contain some subtle hints about the future of this blog. 😉
